“ I've heard about this place for years and now that I live on the IL side of the river, it took me a year to finally get here. My lateness on finally eating here, I blame on the pandemic. Now that things are opening up and I've discovered how good their breakfast is, I know I'll be back. The Sgt. is known for its Horseshoes, but I didn't go that way this first visit. I was tempted, because the Pork Tenderloin one was calling my name. However, when I am visiting a breakfast restaurant for the first time, I like to order a platter that allows me to experience multiple items. So this morning, I ordered the, Super Jack. A Super Jack, included two eggs, half order of biscuits & gravy and a choice of meat. I choose bacon, because we all know bacon is the best breakfast meat. The waitress offered/suggested a side of hash browns and I said, yes. I figured I was already messing up my low-carb day with the b&g, so why not add some potatoes to the mix. It was the best decision I have ever made while ordering breakfast. When ordering hash browns, I typically specify extra crispy. However, today I didn't say anything and they were prepared well beyond my dreams. They were extra crispy on both sides and the potatoes inside were soft & hot. I am going to say, these were by far the best hash browns I have ever had. As for the rest of my order, my fried eggs over medium were done right. So many places do not under stand, over medium and they did. My B&G's had nice chunks of sausage in the gravy and my single biscuit was thick and fluffy. The gravy had good flavor and was not over salty, but I did need to add pepper, but I am a pepper addict. The gravy was a little on the cold side, if the gravy was warmer, I may have given them 5 Stars. My bacon was crisp and acceptable for a diner. The coffee was strong and my server made sure my cup was always filled. She was also personable, friendly and I liked the way she made small talk with all her tables. I'm going back for a horseshoe and then an omelette. The Sgt. is being added to my breakfast out rotation. ”
“ I had a Hamburger Horseshoe. For anyone not familiar with this Illinois dish, it is an open faced meat sandwich, topped with fries and a cheddar cheese sauce. I usually get hamburger. The fries here were exceptionally good and the cheese sauce was perfect. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because the hamburger was a bit lackluster. A fresh beef one wouldve been ideal. But overall quite good. ”
“ i had fries and they were super fabulous and i got a milkshake but it was a little bit watery :( we had the nicest waitress ever her name was raygan and she was super sweet ”
“ Burger was a little hard to eat but it was delicious so I'm not complaining. My dad finished his ponyshoe in 7 minutes flat, so I'm going to assume that means he liked it. lol. Fries were very good and crisp! Prices are a little crazy, but I'd come back :) ”
“ One of the best breakfast places in town! Everything we have had is great. Recommend the cinnamon roll to share. ”
“ Food was good. I had the country fried steak Smothered in gravy. It came with 2 decent size pieces, however, they very well could have been pre-made and frozen. They were seasoned very well though, and were juicy and tender. My husband had a Breakfast Pony Shoe. It was a lot of food, but he said it was great. Service was good As you would guess by the name, the restaurant was decorated on Beatles Memrobilia! Was really fun to look around. ”
“ Finally made it out to try this diner! Would def recommend!! I got the breakfast sandwich with a side of hashbrowns..super good!! ”
“ This restaurant is quietly serving up delicious food. We had breakfast on a early Sunday morning. I had the "All American" breakfast. Service was excellent, coffee good, and food served perfectly. It is a fun setting to eat and enjoy reflecting on the Beatles as you listen to their music playing quietly in the background. Put this on your list for breakfast any time of day. ”
